Proposed Improvement Measures
Vergilio Denila Quimba Jr., PhD
This study sought to assess the level of implementation of the English Language Policy in Thailand in relation to the students’ performance in the English Program. The subjects were the seventy-two Grade Six students enrolled in the English Program since Grade 1. The respondents of the study were thirty-six teachers teaching English, Science and Mathematics in the English program of Anurajaprasit School, Nonthaburi, Thailand. The researcher used a descriptive normative survey method with the aid of a self-constructed and through documentary analysis of variance of students' performance. Findings of the study revealed that there is no significant difference among the major subjects to the learners' levels. Results also indicate that the design in institution and academic policies really meet the standard learning levels of the respondents. However, there are significant problems experienced by teachers in the English Program which includes language structures and difficulty in the use of English in the teaching-learning process. The paper outlines several practical strategies to give solutions on areas needing improvement.
